THE YEAR OF CONSISTENCY
This year has been quite hard for all of us. From the high of having no restrictions and just being able to see family and friends. Then the lows of potentially another lockdown. We started 2021 in a less than hopeful place and now we might be ending it there too. However, we have defiantly been tested, our resilience, our hope, our friendships, and our relationships. It has been a year for growing and changing.
At the start of the year, my coach asked me what the theme of my year was going to be. If I was to call 2021 the year of something. What would my actions, goals and motivation look like this year? I told him I wanted it to be the year of strengthening. I wanted to start building the life I wanted. I wanted to become stronger in everything that I do. Upon reflection, I feel like I did do that. I was not perfect, there were ups and downs, but I began to strengthen many aspects of my life.
I started to strengthen my mental and physical health by exercising more frequently, meditating, practising gratitude. I have done this by figuring out what I wanted my days to look like. I developed a morning routine that has helped me a lot this year. There have been times where I go weeks without missing a beat but then I’ll stumble and go into a slump. It is at those moments where resilience is so important to be able to pick myself back up and start again. If you want to know what my morning routine looks like, look below.
Some of the other habits that I have been strengthening or developing through 2021 is reading more books, learning a new instrument, podcasting and content creating. There are things whereby I have not been developing, my photography has taken a back seat to other things in my life. It is quite unfortunate because I honestly love photography. This is something I hope in 2022 I can get back to doing. The theme of strengthening has helped me in this difficult year in keeping me focused on what I wanted from this year. I have fallen and failed but I have also done some amazing things that I wouldn’t have thought were possible.
So, what does all this reflecting on 2021 have to do with the title of this blog post? Well, as mentioned in 2021 I had been starting new things, strengthening in areas of my life that needed it and I will continue to do this throughout the next year. But I wanted a new theme for 2022. For the areas of my life that I have focused on growth and building strength I wanted to be consistent in continuing these habits. This podcast episode below is the inspiration for how consistently can build greatness
I want to take this energy with me into 2022, by consistently doing the small things it can help build greatness. So, I want to be able to continue building the habits I started in 2021 and have it be something that I consistently do on a daily basis.
So as stated in the title. 2022 is the YEAR OF CONSISTENCY. If you like the sound of this, then join me in embracing consistently throughout the year to come!
